How Keel works

Connect your accounts, check your transactions, then build a plan around the bills and income you expect.

1. Create your account and connect your bank

Start the seven-day trial without a credit card. In Accounts, choose Connect Account and complete the Plaid connection flow for your institution. Keel does not receive your bank login credentials. Supported banks and account details depend on the institution and the connection.

2. Review imported transactions

Use Transactions to check dates, amounts and categories against your bank. Imported categories can need correction. The dashboard’s bank spending figure includes bank expenses and outgoing transfers. Posted credit card activity is shown separately so adding a card does not add its purchases to the same bank cash-flow total.

3. Add bills and expected income

Use Bills to organize due dates and payment status. Review detected subscriptions and add expected income to your plan. Keep dates and amounts accurate: a bill due before payday affects your cash forecast differently from one due after payday. Tracking a bill in Keel does not pay it or change its due date with the provider.

4. Review the cash flow forecast

The forecast combines connected balances, unpaid bills, detected subscriptions and expected income to estimate upcoming balances. A projected shortfall is a prompt to review the inputs and your options. It is not a guarantee of your bank’s future balance, and transactions not yet imported can change the result.

5. Set budgets, savings goals and a debt plan

Create category budgets and review your spending as the month progresses. Add debts with current balances, interest rates and minimum payments to explore payoff plans. Review estimated rates and payoff dates before relying on them. Keel helps organize your information; it does not move money, make payments or provide personalized financial advice.

Keep the plan current

Return regularly to check transaction imports, upcoming bills and expected deposits. Bank data is not guaranteed to arrive instantly. If a connection needs attention, review its status in Accounts. The Help Center and contact page explain how to ask for help without sending bank credentials.
